Thomas More Society
The Thomas More Society is a not-for-profit, national public interest law firm that exists to restore respect in law for life, marriage and religious liberty. Based in Chicago, the Thomas More Society defends and fosters support for these causes by providing high quality pro bono legal services from local trial courts all the way to the United States Supreme Court.
The foundation is working with The Thomas More Society in the design and implementation of an End of Life project. The objective is to develop and make available to the general public end of life legal documents in line with Catholic and other morals that are also legally sound in all fifty states. The foundation is assisting in the following areas:
- Review and monitor the review of draft durable power documents by the combined Catholic bishops of the State of Illinois and the subsequent roll-out to other states
- Once the documents are approved, assist in developing and implementing a communication strategy to publicize the documents through effective media relations
- Review the plan to distribute the documents, including the role of the worldwide web and related call center technologies
- Assist in identifying and recruiting qualified lawyers around the country to participate with the roll-out as necessary
- Assist in coordinating speaking opportunities for Thomas More Society lawyers around the country
- Review progress throughout implementation and make recommendations
